Welcome to HRd Bristol. HRd Bristol was established in 2005 when colleagues Lisa and Sandra decided to join forces and form a consultancy that would enable them to fulfil their passion for developing people.
 


Together we have over 60 years’ experience of developing people through coaching and facilitation of learning which includes the provision of high quality ILM courses. During this time we have supported hundreds of people in leadership roles to develop. Over the last year or so we have decided to follow our passion and energy and shift our focus to concentrate on coaching.

As Level 7 qualified Executive Coaches, we provide much valued genuine and honest conversations for leaders and managers who wish to move forward in achieving their goals.

We are also the coordinators for the Bristol & Bath branch of the EMCC.

Sandra Keith photo

Sandra is an EMCC Accredited Coach at Senior Practitioner Level, with an ILM Level 7 Certificate in Executive Coaching and Mentoring and an MSc in Management Development & Organisational Change. She has over 30 years’ experience of working with leaders, delivering training programmes and one to one coaching. She also provides ILM Coaching & Mentoring Qualifications to people seeking to develop their coaching skills which means that she is highly skilled in coaching techniques and current thinking.

SANDRA KEITH

Sandra has coached managers at all levels and her strengths are:

  • coaching leaders who are facing challenges because of the scale and complexity of their work or because of performance issues within the team. She uses her in-depth knowledge of leadership models, tools and techniques to help her clients discover more about themselves and their leadership style.

  • coaching people who need to develop their levels of resilience and mental toughness and help them to discover ways of building more robust strategies which enable them to feel more able to cope in their role and flourish.

  • coaching people through career changes, helping them to find new ways forward with work and work-life balance.

  • coaching people with Neurodiversity, offering Workplace Strategy Coaching to develop techniques to help them find ways of working at their best.

Coaching Style

Sandra’s approach is that of strength-based development - focussing on what people can do and using their strengths to overcome barriers. She is known for quickly building rapport with her clients and establishing effective working relationships. Her coaching style can vary from nurturing and supportive to challenging, depending on the needs of the client and the situation.

She is able to see the bigger picture and uses this to inspire curiosity in clients, encouraging self-discovery. Lisa coaches through one to one sessions, first meeting with the potential coaching client to establish rapport and agree ways of working.

Our Community & Social Impact

We are committed to using our skills in the wider community. We are coordinators for the Bristol and Bath branch of the EMCC and we both volunteer for charitable organisations, which includes mentoring schemes, group coaching and the facilitation of young people’s groups.

Coaching

We believe that coaching is a conversation with a purpose whereby we as coaches help people to achieve their personal or work goals. Our aim is to unlock potential and help perform at their best.

As professional and accredited coaches, we hold our coaching clients in highest regard and support them to unscramble their thoughts and find new ways forward. We view coaching as an empowering process for our clients and we are licensed to use a range of tools to assist us in that process.

Coaching can support people at all levels in an organisation and is often particularly helpful when people feel ‘stuck’ or at a crossroads. Coaching provides a confidential space for people to talk through their conundrums and generate momentum to move forward.

Coaching Leaders in Schools & Higher Education

We have supported the development and progression of many leaders in universities and schools during the last 20 years and have a unique insight into the challenges that leaders face in the education sector. Our coaching sessions will support you to identify your goals, overcome obstacles and take steps forward in your current role and career. more >

Coach Training

We provide courses to develop coaching capability, available as either non certificated training or formal ILM qualifications. Training courses can vary from half day workshops to more in-depth programmes over longer periods depending upon your aims. more >

Courses

We design and deliver ILM programmes in Coaching and Mentoring at Level 3 and 5 as Open Courses and as In-House Programmes. 

We have been registered centre since 2011 with the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) and over the years we have successfully supported hundreds of people through ILM qualifications at Level 2, 3 and 5 in Leadership & Management and at Level 3 and 5 in Effective Coaching. We are currently focussing our ILM offering upon the following Coaching & Mentoring Programmes:

  • Level 3 Award & Certificate in Effective Coaching more>

  • Level 5 Certificate in Effective Coaching & Mentoring more>

We are passionate about developing coaches who have really good practical skills and therefore we include observed coaching practices in each day of training. We keep our cohorts small so that we can give regular and detailed feedback about coaching capability. Our courses are well researched and we provide full course hand outs along with a list of guided reading. We ensure that our delegates get regular one-to-one tutorials and an opportunity for supervision.

Our courses are either run in-house, in which case we take care to get to know the organisation and understand the culture and strategy, or as open courses where we welcome people from a variety of organisations. Either way, our delegates enjoy engaging learning and fruitful time to discuss how coaching can be applied effectively in their environments.

TLT

We worked with TLT to deliver part of their Partner Development Programme which focussed on building personal effectiveness and resilience. This included providing individual feedback to each of the partners, based on their completion of the MTQ 48 Mental Toughness questionnaire. A series of development days were then held which supported the partners in focusing upon their resilience as individuals and teams. The workshops provided valuable time for the partners to reflect and plan ways forward.

University of Bristol

We have worked with various departments of the University of Bristol since 2011 when we were asked to develop and deliver a bespoke programme for IT Services Managers. During the last 6 years, we have had the pleasure of training a number of staff from various departments in the ILM Level 3 and 5 Coaching qualifications. In addition we provide ad hoc coaching on a one-to-one basis.
